In the late eighties the industry of historical models, is mostly entrusted by English, French and Spanish, who successfully export worldwide.

The Soldiers Company comes from a Marco Lucchetti’s idea/obsession for military figures and from the desire to fill the gap existing in Italy.

Founded in 1990 with the aim to tell the story through the sculpture, the Soldiers finds its mission in the accuracy of the historical and uniformological reconstruction and the research on details
During the first three years of life the Company produces Italian and European subjects of the 19th and 20th century, in campaign uniform in 54 mm.
The choice to represent these ages comes from the huge variety of uniforms – and thus the choice of subjects to be produced – and from the desire to let people be familiar with the relatively unknown Italian uniforms.

The production of Medievals starts in 1993, becoming one of the best productions on the market, thanks mainly to the contribution of the famous medievalist Mario Venturi.
In 1994 begins the collaboration with the maestro Adriano Laruccia, who will soon become the most famous sculptor of historical figures.
With Adriano starts also the most important production of 90 mm figures and above all, the now famous, and still hugely successful series of ancient Rome models, which will recognize the Soldiers as a leader Company in the production of subjects relating to the Roman Empire.
Horizons enlarged. Together with the release of the kit “Hector and Achilles” and “Siegfried”, two books written by Raffaele D’Amato and designed by Giorgio Albertini are published along with the two sculptures.

In the following years the Company expands, increasing production to become one of the most important in the market. A new partner comes with the new millennium: Maurizio Crespi.
The increasing production and the determination to realize only high-quality products, require a complete separation of responsibilities: Marco Lucchetti will be the art director while Maurizio Crespi will be in charge of the administration.

The entry of Maurizio in the Company, brings a new wind and new perspectives. Two new lines start: fantasy and comics (caricatures of notorious people, either historical and modern); multimedia products, historical computer games and limited edition miniatures for the Twenty Century Fox Italy (“Ice Age 2” and “X-Men 3”) are produced.

Nevertheless the main activity of Soldiers remains the historical research, the deep study of military history, the accuracy of the uniformology, in a nutshell: the historical miniature. More recently, the international economic crisis has required the Company to reassess the production process in order to find a new position in the market.

The Soldiers returns completely in the hands of Marco Lucchetti, who chooses quality over quantity. The shift requires the realization of a smaller number of subjects, but only of highest quality; the production system is also changed thanks to innovative materials, modern types of moulds and new casting alloys.
The well-established collaboration with Adriano Laruccia, increasingly address the production of subjects on ancient Rome with a brand-new series dedicated to the late empire, which immediately gain public success.

Marco goes back to sculpt models of the Colonial War and British India periods. With the new organization the operational headquarter and the warehouse are moved to Rome.

News for 2010 will be related to series and to subjects and the realization of a brand-new piece to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Soldiers.

Awards: Soldiers won for three times (2003, 2004 and 2005) the title for “Toy Soldier of the Year” in the International Toy Fair Competition in Nuremberg, Germany.
